Homeopathy in Manchester
What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a holistic system of healing which is suitable for everyone including babies, children, elderly people and pregnant women.
It focuses on you as an individual and treats you as a whole person including your physical, emotional and mental health.
It was first described by Hippocrates 2500 years ago although the current practice of homeopathy developed 200 years ago.
How does it work?
The word comes from the Greek language and means 'similar suffering'.
The central philosophy is that a substance which can produce symptoms in a healthy person can cure the same symptoms in a sick person. Like treats like.
One example is Allium Cepa (Red Onion). This can be used homeopathically to treat a person with the hayfever symptoms of watering eyes and runny nose, these same symptoms are produced when a healthy person cuts up the onion.
During a consultation all symptoms are discussed including those affecting your physical, emotional and mental health. Then a remedy is prescribed which matches all the symptoms.
Homeopathic remedies
These are made from natural sources including minerals, plants and in some cases animals.
The substances are given in minute doses making them safe to use.
Minimum doses of a remedy will be prescribed which aim to stimulate your body to heal itself.
Who comes to see a homeopath?
People may seek homeopathic treatment when they are going through a period of change within their lives. This may include divorce, bereavement, redundancy, puberty, the menopause, etc.
At stressful times in life people may experience a range of physical, mental and emotional health issues.
I offer consultations to people who are affected by a wide range of health issues.
Homeopathy and your GP
Homeopathic treatment works alongside medication prescribed by your GP. Always keep your GP informed of any changes in your health or if you wish to change your medication.
It is really important that you are able to make informed choices about your own healthcare . This may involve being directed to your GP for tests or to discuss other options.
